Pastor Steve Baskin is a charter member of Western Hills Baptist Church, which was started
together with his father Dr. Jack Baskin in June 1985. Pastor Baskin was the Assistant Pastor and
Young Married Couple's Director before coming Co-Pastor in 1990. He became the Senior Pastor
January 1, 2000 upon the retirement of his father. He was a voluntary Chaplain for the Cobb
County jail system for 28 years. Pastor Baskin was born in Springfield, MO and at a young age of 6
received Christ as his Savior. He went to the land of Korea serving with his parents as
missionaries for ten years. This is where his family developed a heart for missions. He has
traveled through the years on many mission trips to places such as Philippines, Hawaii, Mexico,
Jamaica, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Korea to name a few. Through the years his family moved all
over the United States where his father was involved in higher Christian education. He graduated
from high school in Orange County, CA with a full 4-year scholarship in basketball and high
jumping where he held several state records all while pursuing his dreams for the Olympics one
day. God began to burden his heart for the Lord's ministry and while enrolled in Fullerton College
in California he surrendered his heart to full time ministry. He enrolled in Pacific Coast Baptist
Bible College where his father directed this college and graduated with his degree in Theology in
1978. In 1982 his father offered him a job to work as College recruiters for a small private
Christian college in Decatur, GA. As a recruiter he traveled full time on the road in more than 23
states. He has two grown children Karri-Marie and Graham. Pastor Baskin enjoys time with his
family and friends, and playing with his grandchildren, traveling and reading about world events
and continuously pursing his theological studies.
